Pack Light. Go Fast.

Attesting to GoRuck weather resistance.

GoRuck on a Kayak, Seattle WA

We are on a two week trip, visiting friends up and down the west coast, traveling mostly by train. She packed a REI Flash 30 (another great and light pack), and I packed my GR1.

In Seattle we rented Kayaks with friends to enjoy Lake Union, Lake Washington, and the Arboretum.

We did have the valuables in plastic (and our camera in a waterproof housing), but we decided to take the GR1 along with some extra clothes as a bit of a test.

It only took a handfull of splashes for the most part, but coming through the channel between Lake Union and Union Bay we got buzzed within a few feet by a boat (full of old folks no less) that sent a wake crashing over us.

After getting back to shore it was awesome that the bag kept the quick deluge out of the bag and everything was dry. there was a bit of water soaked into the strap pads (from being trapped between the bag and the kayak) but all in all hugely impressed.

This all happened right along those few days where people have been posting water pour tests, so I thought I would do this write up!

I’m sure readers of this blog already know what a good job the GoRuck folks are doing, but just wanted to add my direct experience to the mix. (and the bag is doing great through the trip as a whole! the wife is hugely jealous of the panel loading and build quality. looks like we might be getting her a radio ruck in the near future.)
