I'm selling my Radio Ruck
Hey guys, I am selling my GORUCK Radio Ruck. The ruck is awesome, it’s in perfect condition without any scratches, tears, holes, or anything else. All the rubber pulls on the zippers are in place. Price is $210. Patch no included.
The reason I am selling it is because I want to buy the new sized Radio Ruck coming soon since it suits my working needs better. I love this ruck but I...

Upgraded GORUCK GR Echo and Radio Ruck
Both the GORUCK Echo and the Radio Ruck just received an upgrade.
They are slightly bigger (about 6 liters) and the Echo now sports a full zip and can take a bigger laptop. They will be more expensive too but for the next few days you can get the new models at the old price.
Hurry!

The goal with GORUCK is to create something that is timeless, a classic. And… There is no way to do that that doesn’t involve extreme amounts of quality. We want something that is going to last forever.

At the end of the week my wife, kids, and I will be heading overseas to the England to visit my family. It will be the first time my two small kids have ever been to England and their first time meeting their aunts, uncles, and cousins. It’s going to be exciting.
I’m sharing this because I was suddenly struck by the realization that my approach to packing for this family vacation is almost...
altoidamadeus asked: I just wanted to add to minimalmac's concerns, I ruck run every weekend and I was using the GR2, which I think has the same straps as the GR1 and I found it immensely comfortable. My only dislike with the GR2 was it rubbed against my lower back. I decided to get the radio ruck to try that out, I was not happy, the smaller straps were far less comfortable and I will be using the radio ruck...

minimalmac asked: So, as you know, I'm going to be doing the GORUCK Challenge in May. I would like to get my own GORUCK bag to have for training but I'm having a tough time deciding which one. I'm usually a small bag sort of guy because I travel light so my initial feeling was for the Radio Ruck but I find myself thinking maybe it might be nice to have a larger bag in my arsenal as an option so...

So I’m flying out to Vancouver and had everything packed for a week of snowboarding and touristy crap into my GR1 and a Dakine Low Roller (board bag). American Airlines told me that I couldn’t put anything in my board bag aside from my board/boots/bindings; this would change it from “sports…
theseminarian asked: OK, so how best would you attach a Nalgene bottle to a GR1 (or 2 or Radio for that matter, but I own a GR1)? The Maxpedition bottle holder seems a bit much. I can think of paracord and a carbiner but that would sit/hang low (I think). I don't need constant access to it, I just want to secure it (as is I just make sure the cap is on tight and I toss it inside).
Dream
Last night I dreamt I owned a GR1. Seriously.

luisgodinez asked: Love the blog, I think I read every post twice. I'll be buying a GR1 soon and most of my travels are roadtrips or quick 3 day trips. Do you have any recommendations for light clothing that don't look so outdoor orientated and not too pricey. I'm not sure if that makes sense. I'm looking for a more casual look. The only exception is my marmot precip for a light rain jacket.

dramatictheory asked: I know you get these questions all the time, but here's another one; I'm moving to the states for college for 6 months and I'm tossing up between the GR1 and the GR2; I probably won't need more than a couple of changes of clothes and my laptop and a few other bits and pieces, but do you have any advice about which of the two bags I should go for?
Thought this was vaguely in keeping with the pack...

Thanks for the submission. And yes, especially the Jameson.
about-the-journey asked: I was finally able to talk my buddy into doing a GoRuck Challenge with me sometime next year as a college "graduation present" for us, and something to help us work towards getting fit. Which ruck to you recommend the most for the GRC, that will also get the most day-to-day use after the GRC?

The GR Echo, Radio Ruck, and GR1 are three packs from GORUCK. The first pack I purchased was the GR1. I’ve used it as a day pack for several months as well as luggage for short (2-3) day weekend trips. The GR Echo and Radio Ruck are both great day packs and I’ve found…

I have a gear giveaway at my other blog Red Teams. I’m looking for a logo for the blog and I opened a contest. Check it out.
sageco asked: Just a quick question regarding the GR2: does it pinch your neck when you wear it because of the extra wide and stiff straps?

The GORUCK Challenge: Bringing People Together... →
[..]
The third common element is perhaps the most defining one of the GORUCK Challenge: the log. Somewhere along the way, the team will be given a large log - a found object that could be a full-on tree, or a heavy railroad tie. The point is it’s big, it’s wooden and it will weigh hundreds of pounds. The team will be responsible for moving it for a significant portion of their...

Lightweight Backpacking Step 1: Weigh Everything!... →
In order to know how much weight or gear you need to eliminate, you first have to understand what you currently have and how much you carry on a regular trip. One of the most common mistakes that people make with a gear list is that they forget to maintain it, refer to it and adjust it. Having a detailed list of your gear is great, but keeping track of what you use and don’t use will provide...

Date has been decided on as Feb 19th. It’s just in time as I’ll be in Vancouver on vacation until the 18th, might as well continue the fun and support a good cause. All donations go to the Children’s Cancer Research fund in honor of Charlotte Grimm.
This means that I have from now until I leave on the 11th to get ready. Is 2 weeks enough time? I guess we’ll find out.

Probably could have gone lighter if I wanted to, but the GR1 fit everything pictured:
2 collared shirts
2 bathing suits
2 plaid shorts
3 boxers
3 white t’s
1 gym shorts
flip flops
toiletries
iPad + charger (not pictured)
Field Notes + Pen
Unfortunately I was traveling with my family so I was still held up by everyone else’s overpacking, but I couldn’t help but laugh...
Re: RyanAir and the GR2
I’ve been on two RyanAir flights with the GR2, and the only problem I had was weight, not size.

Ryan Air
Hi Man,
I have followed your blog for several months. Very interesting.
I am planning to buy a GR2, but I have a strange question: have u ever travelled with GR2 as carryon luggage on LOW COST FLIGHTS? like ryanair, easyjet etc.. these flight companies are very strict about carryon luggage weight and dimensions… does the GR2 meet the dimension rules of RYAN AIR about carryon luggage?

huckandscout asked: Thanks for the pack light inspiration. How would you handle flying to a destination where you intend on backpacking, hiking, and/or camping? I'm most concerned with eating utensils, pocket knives, and other things most people would consider a necessity that TSA may not look favorably upon. I'm in agreement with the no checked luggage concept and would probably only have one bag, but...
